Poem Collage

This is another ancient work of mine from 2002. It is hanging in my pastor's office. It took me an entire weekend to create this. I spent a day just cutting pictures and phrases out of magazines and another day assembling the pics and putting the poem together.

Collage + Poem

This is one of my favorite creations from over the years. It was before I was into photography and when I still wrote poems fairly regularly... The poem and the picture came about simultaneously. I couldn't have created one without the other.

Wailing Wall
Sitting on a tall brick wall
Brain waves stall.
Mixed up emotions,
Head in the clouds,
The music in my mind
Is coming out LOUD!!

Can't see what's ahead,
I've forgotten what has been.
Just living in the moment,
Trusting God,
My one true friend.

I took these through the window in my classroom. The squirrels have learned that they can safely graze in this area behind the building because most of the human "traffic" is on the other side of a glass "wall".

The "Haunted" House

When we walk by, many of the kids that I work with call this a "haunted" house. Every year it gets a little bit more run down... windows crack and break around the edges, the chimney crumbles, the gutters fall off, etc... Several years back there used to be a black cat that would sit inside the windows and look out, sometimes from the 1st floor, sometimes the 2nd, but I don't think that anyone actually lives in it now. The cat stopped lingering a couple of years back...
