It's a PEZzy Good Day!

I am now the proud owner of this vintage, non-footed "Duck w/ flower". [3.4 Austria stem].

I finally have the frog to complete the "Crazy Animals" set!

My other "Crazy Animals", including a crystal version of the shark! Don't ask me how a camel fits in with a shark, an octopus and a frog... They're some of my favorites though, partially because they're so random!

Poorly Named Snack Food

I don't know about you, but the name "salty stix" doesn't sound appealing. "Hey! Do you want some salty stix?" Maybe if I was starving in the woods with absolutely nothing to eat... If you said, "Would you like some pretzel sticks?", I'd be all on board!

Things I Saw @ Tex Tubb's Taco Palace

The wall mural.

Gotta go?!

There is no shortage of 8-track tapes here!

I was skeptical, but fish tacos are pretty tasty!

Maybe this was the "change" everybody was looking for during the elections?!?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm...

My kind of place!!!

This isn't a very happy looking scene... even the moon looks sad! :(

Looking For A Good Read? or Two...?

Inkheart is the only book that ever had me thinking, "That looks like an awesome book!" after seeing a movie trailer. Usually I'm all about the movie and have no problem skipping the book. It is the first book in a trilogy by Cornelia Funke and I am so happy that I got a copy and dove in. The story is really intriguing and the imagery that the author uses to weave the story together is truly amazing and poetic at times.

The story is about a little girl, named Meggie, and her father, Mo. When Mo reads aloud from books something magical happens. Everyone around him is suddenly experiencing the story in a way that they never could have imagined and sometimes characters from the books materialize in the real world...

Another set of books that I highly recommend is the DragonKeeper Chronicles by Donita K. Paul. There are 5 books filled with good, evil, love, war, dragons, wizards, knights, monsters... Need I say more?

It's Snowing In My Living Room!

The movie "Elf" was my inspiration for the snowflake decorations. "Smiling's my favorite!" and both the movie and the snowflakes hanging from my ceiling make me smile!

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!

The world outside my window is covered with a soft, cool blanket of snow... my winter snowglobes have found a place out of their boxes and out in the open... my Christmas tree is decorated and lit up... a Nativity scene is proudly displayed... chord sheets for Christmas carols have found their way to the top of the pile and their notes have been echoing through my apartment...

~~~~~~~~~~
"Joy to the world,
The Lord is come,
Let earth receive her King,
Let ev'ry heart prepare Him room,
And heav'n and nature sing...
Joy to the earth,
The Savior reigns,
Let men their songs employ,
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains,
Repeat the sounding joy...
He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness,
And wonders of His love..."
-- "Joy To The World" -Isaac Watts 1719, Lowell Mason 1839
~~~~~~~~~~

My prayer this holiday season is that the words of this song will prove true. Even amidst all the holiday busyness and commercialism, that every being on earth will "receive their King" into their hearts and that the nations will "prove the glories of His righteousness and wonders of His love..."

Have a very, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Madagascar PEZ

I had to go on a little adventure to get these PEZ. They are only available at specific movie theaters right now and there is only one of these theaters in WI, over 100 miles away from where I live. Due to the generosity of a friend who loves to drive and go on mini road trips, I was able to get to the theater only to find that they were out of Skipper, the penguin. They did have several of Melman, the giraffe though. So I bought an extra Melman and headed home after the movie feeling elated and a bit disappointed at the same time. That evening I posted a request on the PEZHEADS list to find that a collector in NY was able to get Skipper but not Melman. To make a long story short, we traded via USPS and I am now the proud owner of both PEZ. Life is good!

Dormant Poet

"There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace." -- Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (NIV)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The blank page is really frustrating... almost infuriating. I feel like a part of me somewhere deep inside is sleeping and occasionally wakes up just long enough to shoo me away groggily with a grunt and an angry wave. Maybe this is just my time to be "silent" but a part of me is longing to "shout out" on paper. I'm ready for this dry season to come to an end!
Lord, if this is my time to be "silent" I pray for patience. If it is my time to "speak" I pray for poems and prose and songs to flow down onto paper from my hand, for Your glory!
